ICCO Cooperation

Expertise:

ICCO Cooperation is an international organization, whose mission is to end poverty and injustice in the global south, in partnership with enterprising people. Our headquarters is based in the Netherlands with 5 regional and multiple country offices in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. We also have an office in the USA. ICCO has a track record of more than 50 years. We focus on 4 programmatic areas: economic empowerment, food security and sustainable consumption, responsible business and emergency aid. We believe that long-term success can be achieved through programs and investments carried out by enterprising people and organizations. We have put our non-profit and commercial entities under one umbrella and bring stakeholders together, benefiting from the strengths of each. In public-private partnerships, ICCO can take up the role of co-financer, co-entrepreneur, co-implementer, and lobbyist.

Project Role:

ICCO will guide and support the consortium in implementing the program, financial management and compliance with NSO criteria.


East West Seed - Panah Merah (EWINDO)

Expertise:

PT East West Seed Indonesia (EWINDO) was established in Purwakarta (West Java) in 1990. EWINDO is the first integrated seed breeding company in Indonesia that produces, develops and sells tropical hybrid vegetable seeds under the brand name: CAP PANAH MERAH. The vision of EWINDO is ‘we believe in high quality vegetable seeds for a better living’ and its mission is to ‘provide high quality seeds to increase farmers’ income and promote vegetable consumption’. For over 25 years, EWINDO has provided healthy seeds with high genetic purity and good germination to achieve good results, aligning with their customers’ needs.

Project Role:

EWINDO is bringing their expertise in conducting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) trainings, setting up demo-plot sites and ensuring ‘smart seed’ choices are made. EWINDO’s Agriculture Extension Officers also have a strong base in the farming communities in Indonesia.


Nelen & Schuurman (N&S)

Expertise:

Established in 1998, Nelen & Schuurman (N&S) is a consulting company offering creative solutions for water management issues. Innovation, knowledge development and the clients’ needs are key values for the company. N&S provide consultancy for water management issues in urban and rural areas and they develop information products that give managers insight into the performance of their water system(s).

Project Role:

N&S will guide the consortium in providing functionality to collect data from several sources and the data into new useful information for SMS and mobile phone applications via their Lizard platform. The Lizard platform can combine complex water related data, process and present it.


Akvo

Expertise:

Akvo is a non-profit foundation formally incorporated in September 2008 with its Head Office in the Netherlands. It operates under the principle not for profit – not for loss. Akvo develops and runs web and mobile services. It provides software as a service, backed by a global partner-support and training team. Akvo tools bring international development work online through open sources in sectors like water, sanitation, health, education, agriculture, conservation and economic development. Akvo tools for knowledge sharing, reporting and field based (offline) monitoring with smartphones are used across the globe in 37 countries from national and organisational levels. In Indonesia, Akvo is involved in a country wide data collection effort by the Indonesian government where over 800,000 household surveys have been done with smartphones, using Akvo’s platform.

Project Role:

The AkvoFlow tool will support the consortium in field data collection from farmers and for M&E purposes.


University of Twente - Faculty for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (UT-ITC)

Expertise:

The University of Twente (UT) is an entrepreneurial university in the Netherlands that has distinguished itself as an academic institution that can integrate technology with the social sciences. The university’s Faculty for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) was established in 1950 as an Institute for International Education. The faculty’s expertise is in acquiring, managing, analysing and disseminating spatial information. UT-ITC is working with several Indonesian universities in providing double degree programs and is active in a wide range of projects with various Indonesian partners.

Project Role:

UT-ITC will support IPB and AKVO with the spatial integration of different types of soil data.


University of Bogor - Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB)

Expertise:

University of Bogor – Institut Pertanian Bogor was established in 1963 and is an Indonesian state agricultural university based in Bogor, Indonesia. It is the only state university focusing on tropical agriculture and life sciences. IPB offers various innovative programs in education and research suited to the national, as well as international, development needs.

Project Role:

As experts in remote sensing, soil testing and weather forecasts, IPB will support the consortium where needed in cooperation with the Dutch private sector partner Weather Impact, in providing accurate weather information. Soil testing results will also be added to the LIZARD system and contributes to the SMARTseeds information services to farmers. IPB will also support UT-ITC in the acquisition, analysis and processing of satellite data.
